The requirement by the Royal College of Surgeons was versatile and complicated. There was a need for live camera images to be shown across the whole wall as well as individual images across part of the wall. The wall also had to have the ability to show presentations; for example allowing a laptop to be plugged in to display a PowerPoint slide show. The system was also required to be controlled from an AMX touch screen controller.
The functionality was achieved by developing a data wall controller with multiple inputs that could be switched via an AMX control. The wall was built using 40” thin bezel monitors, each with a resolution of 1360x768 (total wall resolution 4080x2304, over 9M pixel). The frame to hold the monitors was designed to meet the installation requirements of the site and required close liaison with the main contractors.
